Get involved with LINC's Rock the Block
Tonight, head over to LINC to learn more about how to get involved in their summer celebration of community, culture and connection to opportunity! June 9th - they're taking over Madison Ave with local food, live entertainment, health screenings, GRPS graduate appreciation, give-a-ways, activities for children, a car show, chess tournament, horse-back rides and more.
The main purpose of the 2nd Annual Rock the Block Health Fest & Fair is to advocate for and educate the community on healthy lifestyles and provide direct access to education and job opportunities. 70-80 local nonprofit organizations, including health care providers, businesses, colleges and universities, are attending to provide direct access for neighborhood families. Seniors graduating from Grand Rapids Public Schools that day will be honored with special recognition on stage.
The event will be held Saturday, June 9th from 11am-6pm.
The Volunteer Orientation will be held today, May 8th from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.
Contact Regina Davis at (616) 451-9140 for more information.
LINC's mission is "revitalizing neighborhoods through authentic engagement, stimulating economic development, expanding housing opportunities, creating affordable housing, and developing leadership and capacity to residents and grass-root organizations."
Interested in the work but can't make it tonight? LINC hosts volunteer orientations the second Tuesday of every month from 5:30 - 7pm. Stop by and learn how you can get involved in the Believe 2 Become initiative with Grand Rapids Public Schools!
