County-Wide Food Drive Provides Plenty of Opportunities for Individuals and Teams to Get Involved
ACCESS's annual County-Wide Food Drive is coming up, and once again there is plenty of room for volunteers to help out. Inviduals, families and teams are welcome.
Volunteer Options For County Wide Food Drive 2012:
1) Request paper bags for your organization to fill. We can get you bags to use at your organization anytime beginning mid-September. All you have to do is ask people in your organization to take a few bags home, fill them up with food and personal care items, and bring them back to your organization. The week of October 7-13 you can drop them off at your nearby hub or the pantry can pick up from you.
2) Volunteers throughout the week of October 8-13 to be stationed at local grocers to help us collect food. This involves having a 2-3 hour slot of time (most likely early evening times) in which you will hand out flyers to store patrons to ask them to pick up extra items and drop them with you as they leave. This is a fun activity for small groups and families!
3) Pre-bag and pre-flyer route neighborhoods anytime between October 3-8. This involves having a small or large group willing to drive or walk routes to place folded grocery bags on the front step of houses on the route area. This may take an hour to two hours depending on the group size. This opportunity can be done any time of day during October 3-8. This is a great opportunity for youth groups!
4) Route collection or sorting and boxing on Saturday, October 13. This involves being present at the hub in your area to help intake food items from the route collection. This opportunity begins at 9am on Saturday October 13.
