Brand New Books Available from First Book!

Are you familiar with First Book? This nonprofit organization provides new books to children in need addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy - access to books. First Book has distributed more than 65 million new books to children across the country since 1992.

Programs in Michigan can receive books from First Book if they serve at least 50% or more children from low-income families. All of First Book's materials are free or drastically reduced in price and include various Caldecott and Newberry winners, bilingual titles, and more!

There are three ways to get books from First Book: (1) The First Book Marketplace, an online store selling books and educational materials discounted up to 90% off; (2) The First Book National Book Bank, a free books initiative that distributes to programs serving at least 80% or more children from low-income families; and (3) First Book Advisory Boards, a community-level grant entity that enables programs to receive free books.

To utilize the services of First Book you must register your program with them online at www.firstbook.org/register. You will need your organization/program's Employer Identification Number.
